Applications are invited from suitably qualified members of staff to resource the position of Application Specialist, Financial Solutions, Enterprise Solutions Department, Information Technology and Records Management Division. 

Reporting to the Team Lead, Financial Solutions, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Safeguarding the integrity, security, availability and reliability of assigned applications. 
  • Collaborating with users and the Business Analysis Team to identify, define and document user problems, issues and concerns in order to create technology solutions that increase employee productivity. 
  • In collaboration with the Team lead, designing, developing and implementing assigned new solutions which satisfy user needs, improve efficiency and meet strategic priorities.
  • Conducting ongoing review, analysis and modifications to existing applications to improve operating efficiency. 
  • Assisting with the design, development and deployment of business solutions that satisfy client needs in keeping with Divisional priorities. 
  • Performing ongoing maintenance and of application systems and programs and proposing/ implementing application maintenance strategies to support optimised system output.
  • Reviewing and modifying existing information processing systems/applications and making recommendations that improve operating efficiency including correction of errors. 
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of quality standards and test procedures for software and product evaluation.  
  • Undertaking the application of patches and updates to software where necessary.
  • Monitoring implemented applications to maintain or improve performance, stability and/or reliability.  
  • Providing advice and recommendations to the Applications Team Lead on the information technology architecture that would support the Bank’s current and future requirements based on the impact of current, planned and global technology trends as it relates to the Bank’s business. 
  • Supporting the timely and effective implementation of approved projects within the agreed requirements utilizing project management methodologies.  
  • Providing on-call support to end users, ensuring seamless operations, and addressing concerns promptly.
  • Monitoring and reporting on usage metrics for assigned applications and advising the Team Lead on trend which suggests underutilization of solutions, recommending appropriate actions as part of ROI analysis and to improve client support.
  • Performing any other duty consistent with the nature and function of this job as may be assigned from time to time.
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Post Graduate Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or Management information Systems with two (2) years” experience in information systems design, development, implementation, maintenance, and or analysis.
OR
  • Undergraduate Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or Management information Systems with four (4) years’ experience in information systems design, development, implementation, maintenance, and or analysis
OR
  • Professional certification in information technology with five (5) years’ experience in the specified areas.
  • Certification in at least one of the following would be an asset:
    • Project Management
    • IT Service Management (such as ITIL v3 Foundation)
    • Software Development
    • Systems Architecture
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
  • Sound understanding the Bank’s IT environment, IT standards, best practice and trends.
  • Experience in working with Banking, Regulatory, Financial, and or operational solutions across systems/applications/architectures and across both hardware and software orientated projects. 
  • Ability to contribute to the execution of successful projects  
  • Proficiency in application design, development and/ or maintenance. 
  • Good knowledge and understanding of the technical and support aspects of Information Systems operations. 
  • Ability to trouble shoot and propose reasonable courses of action to resolve technical issues.
  • Good communication and team skills.
  • Good client and customer orientation. 
  • Ability to translate client needs into IT concepts.
  • Self-starter with commitment to quality.
  • Innovative, with an openness to change and transformation initiatives
